SUMMARY Sets up and operates metal sawing machines to cut metal stock to dimensions by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reads job order for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut. Obtains and transfers stock to machine. Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation. Sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts. Sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut. Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device. Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area. Starts machine and observes operation. Selects sawing disk according to type of cut specified on work order and bolts disk to machine shaft. Positions guides on machine table according to specifications of cut, and turns knobs to set guides or bolts guides in place. Starts machine, places stock on table against guides, and pushes stock against saw. Measures cut stock with ruler, caliper rule, or squ.;1re to verify dimensions against specifications. Removes cut stock from machine and maintains production count. Shovels loose materials such as dirt and metal chips into hoppers and trashcans. Follows appropriate safety precautions. Enter data into computer program Follows safety procedures, uses equipment and materials properly and encourages team members to use safe behaviors Reports unsafe actions and conditions and maintains a clean work area.
